Tree lilies

I planted some tree lily bulbs early last year, they were mouldy and only one or two came up (out of 6) got to less than a foot tall and died off. I was very pleasantly surprised yesterday to notice that all of them are coming up this year and looking good. Has anyone else had this happen?

Yes I have quite a lot of tree lilies, some only grew about a foot tall one year, dug them up and they were mouldy. I resisted the urge to throw them away and popped them back and they did very well the next year. Don't know why and seemed very odd to me but at least now I know I'm not the only one
  • Thanks Sophie, I only went to have a look at the area to see if I could decide what to plant there instead and there they were, I'm so pleased and excited to see them hopefully flower this year. I have Anastasia in another part of the garden and she's lovely. What varieties do you have?

I have pretty woman, starburst and honeymoon. I've always admired Anastasia and may get some one day. I'm a bit lily mad. After a few years if you gently lift the bulbs you'll find babies you can move to a different area. I hope yours give you as much pleasure as mine give me. Just keep an eye out for the pesky beetles and you'll be onto a winner I'm sure

The ones I planted last year threw up a single stem. This spring, three stems from each area. Looking forward to the scent and display.
