new plant id please

Hi, does anyone know what this plant/weed is. The stems are quite woody, ive never seen it in the garden before, it grows quickly and has only grown from nowhere recently. Its in quite a few beds but cant remember if I planted/seeded it last year or if it's just a new weed. Any help appreciated. Leaves look a bit like mint but has no smell. .

  • I have this in my garden and do not know its name but it is definitely a weed and rather annoying--very persistent from the roots--so I'd have it out.

I think it must have been there last year, those woody bits wouldn't be there otherwise.

Any other clues? are the stems round or square? any sign of flowering? are the leaves smooth or hairy? stems or leaves sticky?

    Are there any sharper photos?

no clearer photos i'm afraid til tomorrow. definitely wasn't there last year as the largest one has grown where a shrub died over winter and it has grown roughly 2ft in size this year, it has appeared in all of the beds and the stems are very woody in appearance even the newest stems, i will look for signs of flowers tomorrow and try to get a clearer photo, the leaves are quite deep veined, they have no smell when crushed and do look like mint but is not mint, very strange.

  • hello  its a horrible rooty invasive weed -  has no redeeming features but will seed happily in walls etc and really hard to get out and then you will be swamped with it! forget its name atm.

Wondering about a wild plant called Pellitory of the Wall, daft name but looks a bit like it
