Growing Ginger

I noticed a green shhot appearing on a piece of fresh ginger that I use in cooking

I have planted it in a 5 " pot and its shooting

? Any advice friends

    Keep it warm and moist.

    Plant out in may, after last frosts.

    I eat ginger and garlic every day so this hopefully should make me self sufficient

    I doubt you will become self-sufficient, but it's an interesting thing to do. Easier to buy a big rhizome - its cheap enough - and keep it in the freezer. Break off, chop off or grate as required.
