I am afraid you are wrong Verdun.

It is official UK government policy to remain in Europe, that is the only reason that the leaflet is allowed to be sent to everybody, at our own expense! [ I am somewhat ashamed to admit, that a certain Yorkshire Conservative MP, is a friend. ]

It would have been quite possible to force the Leave supporters  on the Conservative front bench to resign, and the only reason that this has not happened, is a desperate, but doomed attempt, to unite the party, after the referendum.

Is that the same Daily Mail, that lied to us about the EU, demanding bananas should be straight?

Greenland came out, took control of their own fishing grounds, and thrived. When I did a marine biology course, I spoke to fishermen in Penzance about the quotas, they were disgusted at the amount they have to throw back, the fines if the wrong fish arrive in a net, and Spanish trawlers fishing with too small mesh, catching all the juveniles. The fisheries policy is not to our benefit.

Greenland has a population of 60000, and has a single export. It took 2 years for them to negotiate their exit from the EU.

How long would it take us?

Most of Greenlands money, still comes in the form of grants from Denmark, so in reality, it is not a fully independent country. Any comparison with our situation is disingenuous.

And you've spoken about others having their heads in the sand???

And Punkdoc is right - the Official Policy of HM Government is to remain in the EU - it says so on their website

    https://www.gov.uk/government/topics/europe

Also, we do have control of our own borders at the moment.  The UK is not part of the Schengen area.

Norway is not part of the EU but has negotiated a trade agreement - the primary condition of that trade agreement is that Norway had to become part of the Schengen area in order to trade with the EU.

If we left and wanted to trade with the EU we would have to do the same so our control over our own border security would be reduced.
