brown-spots

Hi.. I'm growing Butternut squash for the first time, and although my plants are growing some lovely big squash, some others are getting brown spots in them and then completely rotting away. Does anyone know why this might be? I'm keeping them off the ground- but doesn't seem to be helping! Can anyone help??
