Kilmarnock Willow

My Kilmarnock Willow had beautiful big catkins last year when I bought it. This year it seems to be going straight into leaf with no catkins. Any ideas why this had happened?

    Did you prune it?

The catkins come on wood grown last year, so now is the time to cut it back to encourage new growth which should flower next spring. Just been doing our willows.

No I didn't prune as it isn't really that big.  How much do you suggest I prune this year?

If it is still small then leave it alone or just take the tips of the old branches off to force it to make new ones.
