Online perennial plug plants

cotty1000cotty1000 Posts: 293

I am looking to order some rudbeckia and helenium plug plants and I've noticed that prices vary from £3-£6 for one plant.

Which online stores are best for value? I have not had much experience buying plants on the internet.

  • I use a site called The Secret Gardening Club for perennials - really low priced and no post/packing. The plants are in 9cm pots - I don't like buying plugs.

I've attached a pic of the last 3 I bought (they come in 3s) which have been potted on about a week now. (Sanguisorba minor)

They do different plants every week and email me - they do ordinary garden perennials as well as some which people might consider weeds. Google their site and have a look .......

They're about 300 miles from me - good job really as easily tempted image

I bought some 9cm pots of rudbeckia from the garden centre and they were £1.49 each.  This was about a month ago though.  I also bought 6 from Crocus and they were on offer £15 for 6 so felt slightly ripped off.  Both growing equally well.

Just checked out that website. Seems pretty good. Do they change what they sell every few weeks?

  • They have something new every week cotty - they email and I have a look to see what's going. I have bought 13 - 14 sets of plants from them since about October last year - very pleased with all of them.

Meant to mention earlier - I bought the 1st plant pass just for a month to see what it was like and also to have a look at the prices on the plant pass holders offers. They are as cheap as the offers that can be seen - hence me buying the annual pass image

I bought some nice ones from SGC too, despite them being delivered next door, just before they went away for the weekend image they've done really well.

Can anybody recommend any national collection nurseries or plant fairs to attend?
