All pinching out should have ended on Mid-Summer Day.  21 June.

hi Welshonion, when you say all pinching out are you talking about figs in general or everything as these have only just started to grow in the last couple of weeks

Hi Welshonion thats good to know, many thanks ,i wonder if i might ask will these side shoots turn into new branches and will i be able to train them as well as the 4 main ones as i like the idea of a more fuller fan i think they look much healthier or will i have to pinch them out next year, hope im not being too cheeky asking all this

Every year, pinch out the shoots after five leaves. Sometimes they don't make five leaves so pinch them out at three or four.  But Mid Summer's Day is the last date you do it on, so that the shoot has time to grow more shoots before Autumn.
