I have 'the Duchess' too philippa - had to put her back in a pot as she got too blousy in the border she was in. She'll get a good spot somewhere along the back of the house when the extension's done. A few new shoots poking through now.
I wonder who started the peony 'don't move' hooha....perhaps the same person who first spotted Nessie...

Haha it has given me a laugh. But the funny thing is I asked about moving a peony not knowing that there was ever an 'issue' about moving peonies! I was asking as I wasn't sure it was the right time to be moving any plant! So, I've learnt lots from this thread, Thankyou ????
So my lovely Peony seemed to survive me uprooting it and fiddling around with it to remove conifer roots and after making sure to plant it at the same depth..it now looks like this

Good re the foetida Philippa, the others will flower next year
I let them seed and keep young plants moving on, they tend to look a bit manky after a few years so I chuck them.

She was a bit too big for the spot I put her in philippa - I was a bit doubtful but hoped she might grow quite slowly.
She didn't
