    I'm not uptight at all.

Confused now though....simply trying to help Laura - same as nut is. image

I'll repeat - I was simply helping the OP who needs to move conifers and her peony will probably not survive the process.

I don't think that makes me 'uptight'.

Good luck with it Laura - hopefully you can detach the plant from the conifer roots successfully.  image

Not sure what I've done to antagonise you and invoke such a strange reaction aym. image

I'll just use the ignore button now   image

where here to help each other. Not get confrontational in any shape or form . So lets get on with the job in hand. Helping each other.
  • Thankyou for all your advice. I definitely need to move it as the conifers that are coming out are making way for a greenhouse and I'd like to get that put up as soon as possible.

I have a sunny well drained border at the front of the house where I shall move it to.

Hopefully, I manage to keep it alive! If so, I shall post pictures of the gorgeous flowers in a few months. image

  • Haven't had much luck either with peonies ... think my problem along with Hazel's is planting them too deep ... we live and learn ...

Off topic a bit but does the same planting advice apply to tree peonies.  I inherited one which is planted against a fence under a thick layer of gravel and it's not exactly thriving!
