I have a few roses (not sure which type) They are all sprouting fresh growth. Unfortunately none have been pruned in a while (we moved here last year and didn't touch them then) Do I prune now or leave till later?
Is the bit on the right (sticking strait up) dead? If it is, cut it right back to the base. Some of the other branches have dead bits at the ends. Cut these off back to healthy growth just above an outward facing bud.
There are some tips on pruning in this month's GW.

Perfect time now ice. Prune feed and mulch they'll shoot away.
Any tips to how far down? They all have lovely red shoots and scared I'll hurt them.
