Magnolia Quandary

I have a 4/5 year old deciduous Magnolia which has grown with two main branches from the base in a V, one is more major than the other - it makes it a tad unstable- should I prune one off? Thanks

If it !makes it unstable I would. You don't want it to break off. Cut now and it'll have a good chance of healing properly. The more vigorous branck will take over.

Do not be tempted to 'tidy' up the magnolia further. They don't react well to pruning.
