Festuca glauca Intense Blue

I bought the above grass last year and have kept it in a large pot. I am surprised that it is no longer blue but is now a green,

Can I do anything to keep it blue, shall I return it to the nursery, or is this normal?

I'm disappointed!

It needs lots of sunlight to produce the best colour - is it in a shady spot?

  • Thank you for your speedy assistance. At the moment it doesn't get sun all day I keep it outside on a patio image

I will repot it using some perlite and hope it starts to regain the lovely blue colour. Should I feed it when repotting?

  • Thanks again Verdun - had to look up mpc! Learning all the time so will do hopefully tomorrow

I bought two of these last year.  One is dead, and the other like yours is green.  I'll divide it after Easter, as I've never managed to get Festuca's to last for long in the past.  Ours isn't getting any sun yet, but as the others say, I'm pretty sure it will go blue when it does.

Ours are a lot bluer in summer than they are in winter. One of ours looks almost dead, I'm hoping it picks up!
