Flooding

For 30 years my garden has flooded with 6 inches of water After heavy prolonged rain. I have tried a gravel filled trench no joy, the next door neighbours soil seems slightly higher than mine, also I have been told that when the houses were built there was a reen at the end of the gardens which was filled in! please help !

The reen (I had to look that up! It's a syke round here.image) was doing an essential job obviously. And now it's not. You need another reen.

Very difficult to say. Was the reen filled in to create the end of your garden? What do you have on either side of your garden? Other  gardens which once ended with the reen as a boundary?  What lies beyond the end of your garden? Did the owner of that piece of land once own the reen?

Round here, one landowner usually owns all the watercourse, rather than the boundary going down the middle of it.

Your local authority might well have plans and descriptions of drainage and so on. Worth a phone call.
