Failed tulips in containers

last Autumn I planted several pots of tulips however so far only 2 bulbs have shown any signs of life.

Today curiosity got the better of me so I emptied one of the containers to find it empty.

I suspect that the warm wet winter has caused the bulbs to fail and rot.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue this year?

Could have been mice squirrels or voles. Last year they turfed every one out of my window boxes, this year they left those alone and ate every crocus, just left the outer skin laying on the top. Gotta feed the wildlife I suppose. My dad warned me to cover them with close wire mesh, did I listen....

  • Ive also lost the majority of my tulip bulbs... In fact only two remain image.... mine have been munched by rabbits, they kindly left deposits in return for said bulbs!!  Note to self  - must protect better next year!!!
