Hi,
I used one of these for my own glasshouse, I used 1 for mine, glasshouse measurements 6M x 8M. Maybe this can help give you an indication to how many you would need for your space. How many metres is it?
Make sure your area is sealed as best as possible to get the best results.
Hope this helps,
Jerry
Sorry I meant 6 foot by 8 foot! not metres!
Don't know how many you would need but keep in mind that they kill everything. So if you have hibernating ladybirds or pet spiders and their eggs, they'll be dead and into the bin after a few minutes.
If you live in Derbyshire, as I do.
depends how "large" your polytunnel is.
I'm with pansyface, I'd avoid using the " kill everything in sight, and out of it , approach", but each to his own.
Ive only used one once, and there was a cocoon in my glasshouse at the time hanging from one of the windows. I completely forgot about the cocoon and went ahead with the bomb, I went into my greenhouse the next day and remembered! I was very upset thinking that I had killed the poor thing. however a week or so later, it hatched and the butterfly was beautiful and healthy! so I was lucky and didn't murder the poor butterfly!
I wouldn't ever use one again, although it cleared up all the mould and fungus nicely! but id rather save the wildlife and just give my glasshouse a simple spring clean with water etc.
Thank you for you replies, I have never used insecticides in either the tunnel or greenhouse, but I left plants in pots in the tunnel and they went mouldy.
Do you think I need to use anything? What do you use to clean mossy stuff off the edges of the glass in g house.
I personally just use some soapy water to clean the glass in my greenhouse, I'm sure this is completely forbidden by some people, but at the end of the day you cant say anything without upsetting someone these days.
so just use whatever works for you, all you can do is be mindful of the wildlife
I just use a few drops of washing up liquid in a bucket of water - the wul just acts as a wetting agent to make sure the water gets everywhere you want it to. An old toothbrush is useful for getting into cracks and crannies and cleaning the edges of glass
If you are worried about mould spores your best bet is to ventilate. If it is empty now, choose a breezy day to give it a good blow through, otherwise just make sure there is good air circulation and don't let it get damp and stagnant. There are spores everywhere, so a few more won't make much difference as long as you make conditions unsuitable for them.
Thanks everyone, will get washing and cleaning this weekend
How many smoke bombs will I need for a 6m x 3m polytunnel
