erigeron karvinskianus

I have a small erigeron karvinskianus/mexican fleabane that I planted last spring. I think it has got too wet and it looks very dead and brown. I thought it was an evergreen. My question is will this come back or shall I replace it? Many thanks

    Mine looked a bit sorry for itself after the first year but is great now, maybe it got too wet, we have had a very wet winter.  I know they like to be free draining.

    Shall I take all the brown off once the frosts have passed? Thank you

    I can see green way down at the bottom of mine. The brown top can be cut off as I haven't done yetimage
