any solution for getting rid of these creatures Can they harm plants?

    Not sure what sort of creatures you're talking about.  Can you post a photo or a better description?

    dark brown/black in colour leap about a foot high and look exactly like shrimps

    Yes Dovefromabove is right. I looked up her ref.  as I live in Dorset & have this pest in their hundreds for the 1st time ever and we are flooded on out patio & front door porch. Thanks for your advice.
