Lawn problems

Any one got any suggestions.  We have a very uneven lawn and we cannot afford to have professionals to relay,  nor are we physically fit enough to do it ourselves.  What can we do to make it look better

thanks

A mix of soil and compost spread over the area to fill the holes. Ideally you would pull a plank or something similar over it to get the level, but that might be a bridge too far. You can do it by eye instead - filling the holes and treading lightly to firm it. Do a bit at a time if it's a big area.  You might have to do it a few times over the summer to get it looking more level, as weather will cause it to settle. Sow grass seed on those areas and a little extra over the rest of the lawn to blend it all in. image

I expect you could get someone to do the job for you initially, if you felt that was beyond you, and you could just top up any little bits that sink at a later date.

  • I agree with Fairy image  I also find that mowing with the cutter bar a bit higher hides a multitude of humps and hollows with a lawn. image

My lawn has hollows and dips in, you probably can't see from the pictures I post, I think it gives character to a garden, I'd be bored with my garden if it was perfect image My grandfather was a fanatical gardner and everything looked wonderful and he was very proud of his little humps and hollows. He always said they made the garden look more interesting.
