re plant a Chusan Palm
in Plants
I have a chusan palm that has out grown its pot and the only way to remove it from the pot is to wash all the soil out with water or to brake a very large good pot , is this advisable ? At what time of year should I do it ?

Colin, I'd weigh up which is more valuable, pot or plant. I can't imagine both will survive.
We had lots of grunts here a year ago removing agapanthus from pots. We won most of the battles, but lost one pot in the process. I reckon I could replace the pot for about £25 but the plant would have cost over £50 . The pot had to go.
Thanks for all your ideas and suggestions . I will certainly wait until spring as to which is of more value I think the pot but also I did grow it from seed about 10 years ago , also the pot is wider in middle than the top ,once again thanks to you all for the advice.
