HELP sheared weeping cherry branch

Help: suggestions on saving leading branch on young weeping cherry tree with sheared cut 2cm long 1/3 depth. Should I glue it on the outside?

  • You could try wrapping it with rattan the type the florists use. Don't know what glue you were thinking of but if it's too strong it could burn the tree

Hi Karen, it will heal itself naturally over time but it might be a good idea to support the branch to prevent the wind from breaking it off where the wound will make the wood weaker.  You could tie it to a cane or two to hold the branch in place until it has healed.  Using glue or anything else would slow the healing process down at best.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • I meant raffia lol not rattan ( wrap it in conservetory furniture lmao)
