Do I need to do anything to my Salvia
I planted a Salvia last year (purple - think is was sylvestris), it did v well. Nothing had been done to the garden for years so I was v pleased. It flowered well into October or maybe even November, we enjoyed it for a long time. I don't know whether I need do anything now, the left over long stalks (from the flowers) seem dead, do I need to cut these off? Or do I leave the plant as is?

Yes, cut them off. It will grow from the bottom. If you cut the flower spikes off as they fade it will flower for longer.
Hi Bandita, if it's sylvestris you can cut last years stems off
