buddleia issue

Hi,

I have a well established Buddleia Bush, the trunk is around 10 inches in diameter; the problem is it is hollow with tiny holes all over it... i am presuming that it is wood worm that has done this... it is currrently in full bloom but i am concerned that the larger branches will continue to break off as 2 already have... what should i do?

Wow! If the trunk is 10 inches in diameter you have the grand daddy of all Buddleias. It is probably on its last legs and may well be being consumed by insects.

Time to take some cuttings and prepare for its sad demise.

Cut it right back to nothing and see if it regrows. But do the cuttings in case it doesn't
