Monarda care

Well it's official I am totally addicted to this site now!! Right to business..... I have bought x 4 monardas this year 2x Cambridge Scarlett and two pink ones the name eludes me ATM.... I know I need to cut them back in the autumn but did this with one last year and it never came back! ( this could also be due to it being in the wrong position!) so should I cloche them over winter to prevent them getting too wet?

Thanks verdun, to be honest the spot I put the other one in was too shaded and it never took off in the spring theN our friend the slug got too them And my peony overshadowed it!! I now have them under a highly cut back lailandi so the soil it quite sandy and by hey get full sun 80% of the day... My pink one already has powdery mildew but to be honest they were bone bone dry when I got them so I think it was on them when I bought them however the Cambridge Scarlett planted in close proximity hasn't got it yet! I sprayed the pink one with a milk mixture (50:50 mix) and it appears to have cleared up I just cut it back today as it was going over and none of the new growth at the bottom has any signs!!!!! Fingers crossed
