Sorry gd I've no idea !
We have never noticed seeds on our tree, and think they have to be grown in a much warmer climate to produce seed - however I may be wrong - and perhaps someone can enlighten us granma.
If you have cones form, the seeds are in the cones. A monkey puzzle tree near us had cones, they chopped it down, so I took one. It got passed around a bit as the " Any idea what this is" mystery object.

I have spare verbena bonariensis seeds if anyone would like.
Thanks for the link fidgetbones. Our M.P. tree is just over 35 years old - still a youngster, so perhaps that is the reason for no cones. Or perhaps our climate is too mild for it not to produce cones.
Bright star I would like some of your seed, not sure how the swap works though !!
im a seed swapping newbie too Chrissy, I'm sure someone will tell us what to do?
