i would love to turn the front lawn into a potager garden. Have the vision, however not sure where to start. Has anyone succefully managed this.
The lawn is north facing. 10ft wide by 14ft length.
what I would do is keep grass edge the width of your lawn mower so you would have nice green easy path and then divide the plot into squares.
you could tackle a square at a time, taking the grass up and planting a square of herbs, cutting flowers , veg. Would keep the choice of veg to small types or would over take the neighbouring squares. Some of the squares I would place gravel or paving slab so you can work around your plot and weed etc
hope this helps
Hello BM, nice to see you
Hi runny just gearing myself up to do some pot planting!
I can recommend Geoff Hamiltons books , and a visit to Barnsdale near
Rutland Water. He built a potager in about that size for one of his tv gardens.
You can get his dvds from Barnsdale gardens or amazon.
Thank you both for suggestions. Does anyone have photos of front lawn successfully revamped as potager?
