Bare root agapanthus

Rose27Rose27 Posts: 4

Hi, I bought some bare root agapanthus plants in November and I'm ashamed to say I was so busy I forgot to plant them! They've been neglected and I just found them sitting in the shed, do you reckon they'll grow if I plant them now? Thanks very much

It's worth a try - they'll be fairly dormant at the moment - pot them up into damp compost, put them in a sheltered spot and wait image

Add some grit to the potting mix they don't like wet feet.

Absolutely agree Dave ...... and put the pot up on feet so it doesn't get waterlogged image

Thanks so much all of you.

  • I have 5 or 6 in pots and I move mine into the greenhouse for winter cos it grim up north!  Some of the terracotta pots have split and fell apart with lots of roots exposed due to growth and they have been fine for now. I will get time to nurture them (honest). Yes I noticed a very beautiful massive display of agapanthus growing in the cliff side over looking the car park  on Brixham harbour in august.
