collapsed laurel

image

Hello, not sure if the picture has worked but I have a large laurel bush that has collapsed and I am after some advice of how best to approach it. There are a couple of branches that have split by mostly it ha fallen out was from the middle. My gut instinct is that the damage is too much and to cut off each trunk as high as possible and providing a framework for new growth. I know that may look a mess go a while so any suggestions on how to avoid that would be welcome!

I''d cut it right back to base and let it start again. I find cutting back creates further die back so you might as well hack it right down in the first place. It will grow back and look much nicer than one that's been chopped here and there
