Which way up???



Can someone please settle this for us please.... has this bare root rose been planted the right way up?

I hope someone who knows what they are talking about can help!!

    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    Nope, it's not a joke.  I am afraid there genuinely is a rose planted like that.  I just took the photo today.  

    I didn't see the other end before it was planted so can't help with what it looks like.

    Now I just need to persuade the person who's rose it is replant it.... but the right way up this time!

    They'll need to rehydrate those roots by soaking them in a bucket of water for an hour or so before planting them the right way up.  They also need to put teh graft union an inch or so below soil level.

  • Yes nutcultet, my thoughts exactly.  I have already emailed her a link to this thread and then I will pop over to see her later to make sure see reads what you have all said before it is too late for the poor rose.

    I hope this will be enough to persuade her because she says it was the instructions the rose came with that told her to plant it the way up that she has it at the moment.

  • Now, that I don't know!!! Haha! It would certainly explain things if she hadn't!
