Spot that spot

Hi all,

I've got a rather lovely 6ft olive tree but unfortunately I have noticed it has developed spots (as pictured) on many of its leaves. I have also noticed these appear predominantly on the side of the tree which gets the most light.

Could anyone point me in the direction of what this could be and how to battle it if it's a problem?

Thanks

Is it pitting rather than something on the surface? If so, could it be water droplets have acted like little magnifying lenses in the hot sun and burned holes in the leaves?

It appears to be growth on the surface, it's certainly raised. Thank's for the suggestion though.

They are hard and dry to the touch.

Not at all, I really do appreciate your help. Unfortunately, the images I've found online for each of those doesnt seem to match what we have here. The search continues...
