What are these plants please?

OK I went round the upper bit of our new garden and took some photos. Some of the plants (which are mostly hedging round the edges) have already been cut back by thecatsfather as they were really very overgrown, so if you think it's something but would, f.r exampl, expect to see flowers or something, still say what you think it is as the flowers may well have been cut off a couple of weeks ago image

OK here we go!

Thanks in advance image

    I would make a guess at :

1 Pyracantha - has it got sharp thorns? Will have berries later.

    2 Escallonia, pink ones too.

3 Seems to have leaves like previous ? white escallonia

    4 ?

5 Hebe, but not sure which, how big is the plant?

6 Has a flower like comfrey, not sure about leaves, what is it, a shrub or soft and leafy? Tall or short?

    7 Kolkwitzia

8 Something in the pea family.

Try looking them up on Google. You don't say how big they are or what sort of habit or whether they are woody etc. But I hope I've helped with some.

  • is 8 a vetch?

  • is 6 a snowberry?

Could 6 be a lacecap hydrangea?

No-one knows if you've done your housework, but everyone knows if you've done your gardening !

Busy seems right with most but reckon 6 is snowberry too. You may decide to pull it out as it sends suckers up all over the place!

    4 Skimmia.

Know the last one but can I for the life of me remember the name?!!! image Have a feeling it sounds quite exotic. Will probably remember at 2 in the morning.

  • Thanks everyone! Too dark to go and double check things now but I am hoping to find a message time-stamped 2am when I get up, addict image

Is 8 a goat's rue (Galega)? Maybe not.

Looked up snowberry and I agree. When I was a child there was one by the church and my brother, sister and I used to play marbles with the berries. Now I see that it is poisonous and a skin irritant! Didn't affect us. I've never know what it was - after 40 years of gardening!
