White spots on Begonias

When I raised my Begonias they were all healthy looking but when I planted them out (in decent weather) some of them developed large white areas on the leaves and died off.  What is the cause of this and can I prevent it?

Sounds like sunburn Ruth, a few leaves on mine are the same and it occurred within a couple of weeks of planting them out but as they've grown and got used to being outside the rest of the leaves are ok.
