Hello Diane, I have bindweed in my veggie plot and it's a real nuisance. I have read that one way is to grow it up a cane or similiar and treat with a weed killer. I have tried this at the end of my growing season with partial success. My problem is that I have it growing all over the place and do not like to use a weedkiller near anything I'm going to eat. If you dig it up you have to get the whole root system up. Every little piece of root left will form a new plant. You could try to chop the top growth off continually but that requires real commitment and vigilance!. I once tried to cover it all up to starve it of light and water but that didn't work. Good luck
