Evenin' all. Would an iris that is in flower now be reticulata or unguicularis? The clump is about 45cm round and the flowers stand about 25cm high. Just not sure which one it is. Many thanks, jandh
Sorry Berghill, I didn't take a photo. I naively thought the time of year would tell me which one it was but when I looked them both up it said both could be in flower now. I got the feeling that reticulata was quite short and, as nut said, more like an individual bulb. This is a clump of tough grass that I'm sure has been around for most of the year and the grass and flowers are about 25-30cm high so I'm veering towards unguicularis. Thanks to both of you.

unguicularis I should think if it's in a clump and the time is right as well.
Mine started flowering yesterday.
reticulata show bulb behaviour, leaves then flowers appear in early spring then it all dies away.
unguicularis, hardy perennial behaviour, keeps leaves all year
