How to tell if a rose is a climber?
in Plants
I have a rose I inherited from the previous owners of our house and I was wondering whether there's a way to tell if it's a climber or not. It's a bit out of hand at the moment and I'm a beginner so am not sure whether it's just in need of a good prune or its a climber and needs support. In spring it flowered with beautiful ivory roses but on the last few weeks it's flowering pink too, which is also a but odd. Not sure how to add a picture but will upload to Flickr and post a link. Thanks for any help!

Hello and welcome Hollyandroses (two of my favourites)
A picture will be a help

You're too quick for me Dovefromabove!
It looks like one of the 'old garden rose' family, many of which are considered to be climbers. I'm no rose expert but there's some interesting info here which may help:

I have a couple of moss roses which were here when I moved in 30-odd years ago and love them, especially as they seem to be the only ones I have which don't get diseases.
Some pale roses turn pink in wet weather - might that be it?

I can't get a picture from Hollyandroses sites.
Neither can I BL

Thanks for that link, Bob.
BL and Dove, did you copy the links and paste them into your address bar?
Yes, but it didn't take me to the site where the photos are. One site it took me to was this page! If a link is to work here you need to click on the space bar (or type something else) after copying in the link. Then the link will be in bold print and it should work.
