I gave up meat and fish because I couldn't accept my hypocrisy - that of being prepared to eat a living creature that I was too squeamish to kill myself.

So I went over to soya products but now they say that soya production is responsible for deforesting what is left of the world's wild places. So then I thought I'd go for Quorn supplemented by nuts. But now brazil nut trees are at risk of going extinct because of pollution and forestry in the Amazon basin.

And then you have to take into account the air miles involved in shipping nuts and soya beans from far flung countries.

    Cheese sandwich anyone?

To my virtual tastebuds I'm sure it would be worthy of a Michelin star.

Well I imagine if I had to go round all those restaurants testing all the food in them I'd be that shape too.

A hard job but someone has to do it I suppose.image
