have i killed my lavender

so stupidly whilst doing a quick rush job tidying in the garden this afternoon, possibly the worst day to have picked, i chopped the old deadheads off my lavenders, not hard pruned but given the late stage of the year have i pretty much killed them?!

If you've not cut back hard into old wood, they should be ok. If you were going to have severe frost in the next few nights, it might be an issue, but you can always fleece them if that should be the case.  image

It'll all be fine loulou - the new growth is the susceptible part as Verdun says. You may lose a few bits here and there to frost, but if you check again in early spring, you can take any of the dead bits off then.

I've done it at this time of year before and not lost anything.
