Theres a bunch of really tall grass round my pond, its got long leafs with white stripes on it but the tops are feathery like wheat. Can anyone tell me if its a weed or a ornamental grass before i pull it out please

Is it Gardener's garters http://www.shootgardening.co.uk/plant/phalaris-arundinacea-var-picta-feesey . A cottage garden plant likes damp soil, sometimes new shoots are flushed with pink. If you like it leave it but watch it doesn't spread everywhere.
