Perennial plug plants

Hi all,

We received some perennial plug plants and I'm wondering whether to plant them on in pots or whether they should go directly into the garden?

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jon

  • I'd pot them up into pots then gradually do this until they have filled a couple more pot sizes and become larger, stronger plants. Harden them off and then eventually plant them out into their final places. It may seem like more hassle in the short term but in the long term the plants will be bigger, healthier and happier, or so I've found in my experience.

    I agree

as well as the small size, some of these will never have been outside.

The end of season special offers tempted me and I now have loads of tiny plugs which I have potted up and left in the greenhouse.  Problem is the weather has been so awful I don't want to go out there twice every day to ensure the necessary ventillation. I really expected them to be much bigger.  image

Anyone else a sucker for so called bargain offers who now regrets it?
