Planting Viburnum × bodnantense Dawn, WHEN?

Why oh why oh why do gardening websites NEVER tell you when to plant stuff.

As a shrub I assume I can plant Viburnum × bodnantense 'Dawn' during autumn and winter?

Thank you so much nutcutlet for your speedy response. The plant looks sooooo beautiful. I see it's available to buy right now. But every website I went to just didn't have anything about when it could be planted. LITERALLY everything else but the one piece of info I needed. Ha x

I think container grown plants can be planted more or less any time.

A good nursery will only send out a bare rooted plant at the appropriate time

nut's right - potted plants can go into the ground any time as long as the conditions are suitable. Prepare the hole well beforehand too  image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I planted mine not last spring but the one before, It has gotten stockier, but hasn't quite got going yet.  I'm getting a little impatient with it!  Looking forward to it taking off.

  • Just noticed the one I planted in autumn last year is in flower:

Looks a bit sad as it's about to lose it's leaves after last night's cold wind but is flowering like a good 'un for such a young shrub. image  The smell is gorgeous!

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
