What is the best way to grow an aspidistra outdoors.

I intend to try growing it underneath a number of evergreen trees,but does it need a regular feed? and if so, of what and how often.

I always assumed aspidistra was a house plant only! But after having a read of that, I would guess if you kept it shaded from sun, and make sure you bring it indoors when it gets cooler... it should be OK. 

I don't think you should plant it directly in the soil, so assume you bury the container it's in, in the ground - 

 

Feeding

Feed during the growing season about once a month with a weak solution.
