I hate flies..

Not that Ive seen a lot around at the moment - clearly a wet summer overhere is keeping them at bay.

But, when they do come out, any ideas on plants flies dont like...and herbs?

    my mother told me that keeping a pot of mint in the kitchen deters flies

    Country folk used to hang elder leaves in windows and doorways to repel flies, and also stick springs in a horses's bridle for the same reason.


    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    great thanks for those suggestions. I will try the mint, and elder leaves.
