Help! My blackcurrants are splitting

I have noticed that some of my blackcurrants have gone purple (as if ripening) and have split, exposing the seeds inside. Some others have also gone purple but have shrivelled up. The rest of the berries are still green and nowhere near ripe. What's happening? Do I need to take any action?

Not much you can do,GFF.  Sometimes they split after heavy rain following a dry spell, so all you can really do is keep them regularly watered.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Ah ok.. should I be watering them then? image I wasnt sure what constituted a 'dry spell', given the tendancy for rain.
