Can someone help with the name of this flower please?

You wait years for these cacti to bloom and you wake up one morning and there they are  in all their glory but we don't know what it is called so would be very grateful if someone could help us put a name to the beautiful faceimage

I have no idea but I'd just like to thank you for providing that link to the Siberian Times a few weeks ago. I've passed it on to other people who have all enjoyed it too.image

Apophthegm -  a big word for a small thought.
If you live in Derbyshire, as I do.
  • It is a Stapelia of some sort, possibly S. grandiflora.

  • Pansyface , a pleasure if I get some more interesting articles I will share....

Alan , thanks I believe you hit the nail on the head as I just did a search on it and it is also called a starfish cactus even though it is not a cactus.

I also took a close sniff and it is repugnant which is why it is also called the carrion plant.....image

  • They attract a lot of flies in the warmer months, which lay lots of eggs on the flowers!
