Black spots on hydrangea Macrophylla Koria

I brought a hydrangea macrophylla 'Koria' at the Tatton RHS. The flower has since fallen with the leaves developing black patches. There are some new growth from the base of the plant.

The store keeper said we should prune it early spring. But with these black patches, shall I give it a prune now (down to the new leaves) or just treat it with fungi treatment spray and leave the pruning till spring?

Thanks for your help.

I wouldn't do anything. It looks in good health for a young hydrangea. It needs time to establish properly and you won't get the best out of it till next and subsequent years. Many hydrangeas look like that at this time of year especially newly planted one's.
