Apple tree with no leaves

Can someone please help me out? I have an old cooking apple tree which produced very little fruit last year which I thought was due to the weather. However this year it had loads of blossom, which has now been and gone, but no leaves have formed.

I fear this tree is dead bubba.
In the sticks near Peterborough
I hope not. The branches are still green below the bark and it had more blossom on it this year than it had in the past few years.
