Brown spots on clematis leaves

I have a patio clematis Parisienne which has developed brown spots with spidery edges on most of its leaves.  Have to say that it is still in the pot it came in from Taylor's about three weeks ago, so the stems are still closely bound together, but it has been flowering like crazy and the flowers are fantastic.  I know I haven't treated it with the respect it deserves, but can I still save it?

Is it in full sun? Clematis hate their roots being to hot, so if the roots are in sun they could be being cooked. They need planting deep, with the first set of leaves under the soil. I plant mine, with the rootball 4 to 6 inches below the soil surface. Then place stones or other plants at the base to soak up all the sun on the roots. 

Browning leaves can also be due to a magnesium deficiency. So in that case add some Epsom salts to the watering can.

I'd say just get it into the pot or position you want it, get it nice and settled in then take it from there. As IDGM says it may just be getting a bit stressed especially if it's not in the right site. Once it's in it'll probably be fine and will romp away. I bought 2 recently from the bargain corner at GC and now that  they're in some decent big pots with food and water I can barely keep up with tying them in to their supports!
