Onions

Some of my onions have little or no roots and are very small. Whilst weeding them some pulled out and I noticed they had very little root growth.

The majority are healthy and about the size of a squash ball but a few are very small with little or no root.

These were all grown from sets in cells in the greenhouse and planted out about 2 months ago.

Any suggestions please?

I am afraid mine are the same this year I think its due to the very high winds we have been having this year it seemed to have loosened the roots so they are not developing like they should.
