Magnolia Problem

I planted a magnolia last autumn ( sorry don't know the name but grows to about 3m and has pink & white blossom ).                                                          It has heardly grown and has only developed 6 - 7 leaves, yellow in colour and edges of leaf turning brown. There doesn't seem to be any new buds developing eiither.                                                                                                                          I've planted it in open ground, in an exposed position in neutral soil.

Any suggestions please ?

Magnolias don't like being in exposed positions.  It's probably wind that has caused the brown leaf edges.  The leaves on my tree tend to start a yellow colour and then green up as they age. The wind could also be rocking the plant making it difficult for it to take root.
