Hosta Leaves Yellowing

I bought half a dozen hosta jumbo plug plants some weeks ago. I've potted them and put them in the greenhouse, but now their leaves are beginning to turn yellow. Is this the norm for this time of year, or have they contracted some kind of disease?

  • This is normal, the leaves die down for Winter.

perfectly normal . Mine look a right state .

I'd not leave them in a greenhouse over the winter unless all the doors and windows are always open, even then I'd leave them on the floor.

It's amazing how much they heat up with a little sunshine.

  • So they be best outside then Hosta Fan, or on the floor of the greenhouse?

They're hardy plants Alfresco. As they're small, you could keep them in a sheltered spot - against a house wall or something similar - just to protect them a bit from the worst of the weather over winter  image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I started removing foliage from those which went over early.

Gentle tug and if they don't come away clean, leave a wee while longer and repeat.

Lyn has offered to come and do a day of digging up hostas with me, bless'er.
